Dr. Eric Torng interviews star graduate student Kate Skocelas, an MSU University Fellow and a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellow. Kate talks about overcoming lupus, applying for the NDSEG fellowship, her fascinating research which includes using evolution to build more secure distributed systems, and being a graduate student in a pandemic. Kate also has her own podcast included in the links below. Also, since this interview took place, Kate has advanced to the semifinals of the 2021 (virtual) Reach Out Science Slams!
